It's so wild that my kid is not the same person as me?? She's just, like, an entirely different human ... I still can't wrap my head around it lol

What’s funny is I guess I assumed due to adoption my kids would be nothing like me; but my 11yo is so much like me haha. Today I was like “bud, you’re not right here. It took me 30 years to learn to just say I am wrong when I’m wrong” and he is like “but I’m always right” 🤣

From the mouths of babes, lol. Kids take on important parts of what we engage them with in the environment. Like the old poster: they learn what they live.

This is an important point. We have six grown children and now with the perspective of time and change can observe how our original thought s and expectations as parents turned out.

Our kids are 100% their own beings. For the outset I have believed they come through us and only occasionally become like us. Seeing them as 100% original is important to parenting for certain.

Justin must have good powers of concentration to be able to work right next door to the kids. It was interesting about how the parents worked out their schedules--and presumably if one of them started to burn out or needed a change, they would have a thorough discussion, at least. About the caving to TV, so tempting when you know you'll get 30+ minutes of time to have a few thoughts of your own! Enjoyed this.
